A CHESHIRE Police car was left badly damaged after trying to stop a getaway car when investigating 'suspicious activity' in Birchwood.  

Police say they were called to Fisherfield Drive at 11.20am today, Tuesday. 

Three men were attempting to flee in an electric blue BMW which rammed the squad car as it left the scene at speed. 

No officers were injured.

An extensive search was made of the area and the BMW was  found abandoned on a nearby industrial estate.

The three men are described as being of stocky build, aged in their 30s and were wearing casual clothing. 

Enquiries are continuing and anyone with any information in relation to the vehicle – or the occupants - is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 246 of 25th February or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
