POLICE have warned parents to be vigilant after a man was seen acting suspiciously near to where two seven-year-old girls were playing in Orford on Monday.

The pair had been playing in Hastings Avenue at 5.30pm when a dark coloured vehicle drove past them and pulled up at the side of the road.

A man opened the passenger door and stared at the girls, who immediately ran off home to inform their parents.

The vehicle was then seen to pull up at the junction of Bexhill Avenue and Newhaven Road before driving away.

Sergeant Jackie May said: “We have spoken to those involved and carried out enquiries in the local area. We would like to reassure the local community that we take any reports of this nature extremely seriously.

“While nothing untoward appears to have taken place on this occasion as a precautionary measure, we are urging parents to be vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to police.”

Anyone with any information is urged to call Cheshire Police on 101.
