COLLEGE art students have been given a master class from a ‘hot shot’ photographer, who jetted in from Los Angeles to visit them.

Alex Stoddard offered tips to youngsters at Carmel College, after making contact with photography student Stephen Maycock, from Warrington.

The 18-year-old set up the invitation after he was in regular contact via Facebook and Flickr.

He explained: “A lot of Alex’s work is conceptually based and there is a strong narrative in his work. I find his work inspiring.

“Some of his work is quite sinister and my work is going down that road. I am also inspired by Gothic writers like Angela Carter.

“Alex started when he was just 16 and he has gone from strength to strength and is getting a lot of work.”
