COURAGEOUS tot Parker Royle flew out to Paris on Sunday to start the life-saving treatment he desperately needed to help him win the fight against prostate cancer.

The 17-month-old from Great Sankey was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma shortly after his first birthday and has been fighting the rare type of cancer ever since.

Before Christmas, his parents, Alexandria Mckenzie and Stephen Royle, received an unforgettable Christmas that will be difficult to top – Parker’s tumour had shrunk.

Now the brave youngster has flown out to Paris with his parents and other family members to undergo brachythearpy - a type of treatment which involves the use of radioactive seeds to deliver radiotherapy directly into the cancerous prostate gland.

Parker’s auntie, Victoria Royle, knows only too well the heartbreak caused by her nephew’s diagnosis and is now working tirelessly to raise money for Alder Hey Hospital, where Parker spent many hours battling the disease.

The 33-year-old from Latchford said: “He is amazing and is doing so well. So many people have heard about Parker’s story and wanted to do something to help.”

Victoria has been donating all the money raised by a number of running groups she organises, including Mums On The Run and Warrington Wonder Women, to Alder Hey Hospital.

So far, more than £1,800 has been raised since November to help the hospital continue to provide care to ill children and their families when they need it most.

She also plans to organise a race on July 13 after the Race for Life 2014 in Warrington was cancelled by Cancer Research UK last year.

Although the exact location has yet to be confirmed, Victoria is determined to make it happen.

She added: “The money from this race will also be donated to Alder Hey. The hospital have done so much for Parker - we just want to help.”
