A 46-year-old man from Manchester has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police found a man's body at 8.15am today, Saturday, on Manchester Road in Rixton.

Officers say he is the driver of a DAF articulated lorry.

An unidentified white man was found dead in the road.

Police say he is believed to be associated with an empty car found nearby.

Witnesses say it was a possible road rage attack.

The road between the junction with the M6 and Moat Lane was closed for most of Saturday but is now open again.

Police have launched a major investigation and are speaking to witnesses.

They are appealing for anyone who was travelling in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen erratic driving, or anything unusual, to call 101.
