TRIBUTES have been paid to Sankey station master Sandra Pritchard.
The well-known Northern Rail employee was due to retire last Friday but sadly died the day before at her home in Great Sankey.
The 61-year-old, who had worked at the station officially known as Sankey for Penketh for 35 years, was described as being ‘devoted’ to her role.
A Northern Rail spokesman said everyone was ‘shocked and saddened’ by her sudden death after she loyally worked for Sankey station since she started her railway career in 1979.
Stephen Bradley, station delivery manager for Northern Rail, had worked with Sandra for 15 years.
He added: “Sandra will be greatly missed by everyone at Northern.
“She was a real character and had a strong connection to the local community in Sankey and it won’t be the same without her.”
