A WOMAN suffered a broken arm and head injury and was taken to hospital after she was attacked in a town centre bar.

Police say the 25-year-old victim was dancing with a group of friends in 53 Degrees North Bar on Bridge Street in the early hours of Saturday when an argument started with another group of girls.

The argument escalated and the victim fell to the floor after being hit over the head with a bottle and was then stamped on.

The attacker then left the bar with her friends, according to officers.

PC Ross Dryden said: "This was a violent assault on a woman who was enjoying a night out with her friends but ended up in hospital with swelling and bruising to her head and a broken arm.

"The assault happened in a busy bar and I am keen to speak to anyone that may have witnessed the attack to contact me so we can make sure the offender is made to answer for her actions."

The offender is described as white, around 5ft 6in tall of skinny build. She had light brown straight hair of shoulder length, and was wearing a checked dress with a black jacket, black leggings and was carrying a large black bag.
