A BOY who goes on an adventure with giant insects in a peach; a fox more fantastic than your average; or two unsavoury neighbours with more than a few bad habits.
All are characters from beloved children’s books penned by Roald Dahl.
And in a poll conducted by a Warrington studio Venture Photography, based on Horsemarket Street, parents have voted Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as the most popular children’s story.
The tale of Charlie’s visit to meet the potty chocolate maker and his team of orange oompah loompahs beat off other favourites like Harry Potter, Winnie the Pooh and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
Each story in the top 10 was given a creative makeover at Venture, as part of National Storytelling Week.
Padgate baby Lucas Thorpe took centre stage as Charlie Bucket.
Mum Kate said: “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is one of my all-time favourite stories and I am sure that it’s one I’ll read time and time again with Lucas as he grows up.”
