GOLDEN Gates Housing Trust (GGHT) are doing their bit to help its tenants with dementia.

It is the latest organisation to sign up to the Dementia Action Alliance, as it aims to become a dementia friendly service provider.

This will see the trust developing tailored services to meet the needs of tenants with dementia and increasing staff awareness and understanding around dementia.

Among the work being done is addressing health inequalities and dealing with the early signs of dementia in the more deprived areas of the town.

GGHT already offers a range of services that help people stay in their home with the support they need to be safe and independent.

The trust also has links with groups like the Older Person Forum and the Older Person’s Engagement Group and is also consulting with the Alzheimer’s Society on dementia care to produce a step-by-step guide for frontline staff to help and signpost people with dementia and their carers.
