A BOMB disposal unit were called to Bewsey this morning, Monday, after an old metal war shell had been found.
Police headed to Folly Lane at 11.15am but a spokesman confirmed a controlled explosion was not needed as the device was not live.
The object had been found on land formerly known as the George Howard Scrapyard but is currently being developed as a new housing estate.
He added: “Police were called to Folly Lane in Warrington following the discovery of an object − believed to be an old metal war shell.
“No evacuations were necessary and specialists were called to examine and dispose of the item safely.”
