POLICE are investigating a burglary at the Co-Op in Penketh in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday.

Two offenders broke into the store on Warrington Road at 12.50am while a third stayed in a car outside.

The shop was closed at the time with the thieves forcing open the steel shutters before pinching cigarettes and alcohol and putting them in a 'big builder's type' bag.

The trio fled the scene in a dark coloured Audi estate along Stocks Lane before heading towards the motorway.

They are described as around 6' tall, of slim build and were wearing dark clothing and balaclavas.

Anyone with information should call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 27 of 22nd January or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
