A STOCKTON Heath man was found fighting with no top on in the town centre by police, a court heard.

Ashley Alexander John Horne, aged 25, of Chadwick Avenue, was arrested by officers for being drunk and disorderly following the incident on Friars Gate.

Halton Magistrates Court heard on Thursday how Horne was fighting with another man after a night out.

When police arrived, Horne’s top was off and they could see grazes on his arms and back.

They had been alerted by CCTV in the town centre.

The incident happened at 2.10am on November 28.

Horne, who has 12 convictions for 28 offences, failed to turn up to court and the case was heard in his absence.

District Judge Bridget Knight issued a fine of £100 and ordered that £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge be paid.

You mean the CCTV didn't stop the man from fighting in the first place? Should we not bother dialling 999 anymore? Do the eyes have it?

How can a camera physically stop a fight, PageA? the person he was brawling with could have easily ended up seriously hurt had the police not been informed so quickly. Job well done in my opinion.

12 existing convictions for 28 offences, didn't bother turning up to court..... but only fined £100, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge. Hardly a deterrant to someone who clearly has no respect for the law or other people IMO.

Just because it says he was fighting PageA does not mean he wasn't getting his **** kicked.

Does that mean if he had a top on then it would have been ok to fight? Maybe the area could be livened up a bit and have topless women fighting.

More cameras needed in my opinion. That'll get to the root of the problem

My point exactly 'how can a camera physically stop a fight?'

I just don't understand courts these days, Not appearing used to end up with an arrest warrant, Now even the District judge doesn't seem @rsed.
