A NEW stroke psychology service has been launched in the town to help people struggling with emotional problems and depression after a stroke.

Run by Bridgewater Community Healthcare NHS Trust in association with Warrington Clinical Commissioning Group, staff from the new service will be based at Orford Jubilee Neighbourhood Hub but will work in health centres and homes across the borough.

Dr Carol Sampson, from Bridgewater said: “It is estimated that 14,600 in the north west suffer a stroke each year and currently over 157,000 people are living with the effects of a stroke.

“The new service will give people in the borough access to the essential psychological care and advice they need after a stroke which can prevent further issues developing and ultimately improve their quality of life.”

Speak to your GP or the Stroke Association to be referred to the service or visit bridgewater.nhs.uk to find out more.
