A GOOD samaritan has been praised by neighbours for taking it upon himself to tidy up the Great Sankey area.

The man was spotted on Thursday afternoon clearing an alleyway off Hood Lane which had been clogged with rubbish and told residents he would be moving on to Sankey Valley Park next.

Armed with black bin liners, the helpful chap told passers-by he was doing it himself because he was ‘sick of waiting for the council to do it’.

One reader said: “He’s made a big difference and I think his actions are commendable.”
