WARRINGTON Borough Council has started work to demolish ‘derelict’ parts of allotments in Padgate.

The council said any plots in use will not be disturbed at the allotments on Steel Street.

It has started ‘clearance’ work that is expected to finish by the end of the week.

A spokesman said: “Following concerns raised by residents, the council is undertaking clearance works on a section of vacant land to the rear of 94 to 108 Steel Street including removing brambles, derelict sheds and overgrown vegetation.”
