SHADOW health secretary Andy Burnham met shoppers in Warrington on Saturday lunchtime.
The event was set up by the Warrington South Labour party and followed a survey of more than 5,000 people in Chapelford, Latchford and Grappenhall over Christmas, asking them to talk about their cost of living concerns.
The rising costs of energy topped the list of concerns, with 85 per cent saying they were ‘very concerned’ about the rising cost of gas and electricity bills.
The increased cost of food was the second biggest worry.
Nick Bent, candidate for Warrington South at the next election, said: “People tell me the cost of living crisis is happening right here in Warrington, not just in TV news headlines. “Families are paying a high price for Tory economic policies, which favour the privileged few and have slashed real earnings for most working people.”
Mr Bent says the survey is part of a series of community events aimed at finding out more about how Warrington residents are coping with Britain’s cost of living crisis. Around 20,000 more survey forms will be delivered over the coming weeks.
