Call for residents to attend Arpley five year plan meeting

First published in News

RESIDENTS from across the town are being called on to attend a development control meeting deciding whether Arpley tip can remain open for a further five years.

Landfill owners had a 12 year extension to the life of the site turned down last year with an appeal set to be heard in February.

But councillors are now calling on homeowners living near the Sankey Bridges tip and across Warrington to make their feelings clear once again regarding the latest proposal on January 23 at the Parr Hall from 6.30pm.

Clr Pat Wright said: “This doesn’t just affect residents living on the Saxon Park estate and in Sankey Bridges, it affects everyone as we don’t want waste coming into Warrington from other towns.

“We’re calling on everybody again to show up and make their feelings clear.”

Tip owners FCC have argued there is still a need for the tip.

YOU KNEW THAT WHEN YOU BOUGHT IT ! SO LIVE WITH IT ! YOU WILL ONLY HAVE ANOTHER 10YEARS LEFT OF THE ROTTEN SMELLS & FUMES FROM THE TIP !!

Wow you must live in a realy expensive house Mad. As I know of people paying over 300,000.00 on Saxon park. Also they as where the whole of warrington told by our wonderful council and WG that the tip would be closing in 2013. Therefore the people who live in that area have every right to complain.

Don't feed MAD, he will only come back and tell us how expensive his house is, how anywhere which is not Maison MAD, is sub-standard, including the several red light districts of the town he knows.

Just allow him his Year 7 rant and leave him to like his own posts.

As usual this Council has sold us all down the river and bowed to Commercial and Industrial benefactors.

Warringtons rubbish is not tipped at this tip, People paid good money for these houses on the understanding that the tip would be gone by the end of 2013. These houses are not cheap, Some cost over £350k.

I was under the impression, from previous reports that the tip was being operated illegally and that the council were stating they were incapable of doing anything to stop the illegal activities of the operators.

If that is the case, what is the point of holding a meeting?
