WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has slammed the current route for the HS2 as it ‘offers nothing to Warrington’.
Mrs Jones has called on the Government to come clean about the real cost of the HS2 spur, which is planned to pass through Warrington.
The MP recently questioned the Government about the cost of the Winterbottom to Bamfurlong section of the line but answered by only giving the construction costs of £360m.
She added: “Everyone knows that the true costs of the line will be far more than that.
“Unless the Government is prepared to admit that the costs will include compensation for property owners, the loss of jobs, for example at the Taylor Business Park, loss of business rates and damage to local businesses, then any estimate they make of the supposed benefits of the line are fatally flawed.”
