A LIVERPOOL driver has been banned after being caught driving on Burtonwood Road almost three times over the limit.

John Cupit was driving a white transit van when he was pulled over by police on December 9 last year and provided a reading of 100mg of alchol in 100ml of breath.

Halton Magistrates heard on Thursday the legal limit is 35mg.

The 31-year-old labourer, who has lost his job as a result, said he had been drinking heavily as he had become depressed about not being able to see his son.

He was ordered to complete 100 hours unpaid work and was disqualified from driving for two years.
