A VIEWER of The Choir: Sing While You Work was so moved by one of Cheshire Fire choir’s performances she presented representatives with a commemorative 9/11 statue.
Marlene Hargreaves, who has relatives in America and was given the statue after the terrorist attack, wrote to the service after seeing the group sing Bruce Springsteen’s The Rising on the BBC Two programme.
She added: “When I heard the song it reminded me exactly how I felt when, with my family, I visited the site where Flight 93 came down.
"I wanted to present the statue to Cheshire as a tribute to all firefighters and the work that fire and rescue services do."
The tribute was accepted by chief fire officer Paul Hancock and choir members Gus O’Rourke, Erin Fulton, Helen Oulton and Stephen Flanagan.
The Cheshire Fire choir, which included two members from Warrington, made it to the final of the eight-part series with choir king Gareth Malone but P&O Ferries took the overall title.
