A HIGH school in Latchford had been told that it needs to improve by Ofsted inspectors.
Cardinal Newman Catholic High School on Bridgewater Avenue given the ‘requires improvement’ rating following an inspection on December 3.
The school’s governing body fell under scrutiny from inspectors for not having an ‘accurate enough view of students’ achievement’.
It was also reported that the governing body does not have enough knowledge of the school’s strengths and weaknesses to provide support to senior leaders, who have the drive to make the school better.
It was also stated that the governing body is not sufficiently involved in checking how effectively the school deploys its resources, claims the report.
Despite a number of criticisms, achievement of pupils, quality of teaching and behaviour and safety of pupils were all handed an individual rating of good.
The report praised the teaching stating that some of it was outstanding and that students achieve well.
