FREE drop-in sessions for people with aphasia, the communication disorder faced by one in three after a stroke, are set to be held in the town from February 3.

Sessions run at Alford Hall, Manchester Road, from 1 to 4pm, for sufferers to meet over tea and coffee with other like-minded people.

A spokesman said: “Drop-ins will be led by local people with aphasia, supported by trained staff and volunteers and it is hoped will help combat the isolation and depression that many with aphasia experience.”

Drop-ins, run by the charity Connect, will take place fortnightly at the Alford Hall and friends and family of those with aphasia are also welcome.
