THANK you!

The readers of the Warrington Guardian have done it again.

For the eighth year in the row, we teamed up with BiG Storage on Manchester Road in November and December for our Christmas toy appeal.

And the presents have now been handed out - with more than 5,000 donated to help children in Warrington who would not otherwise have had a gift this Christmas.

Paul Whittaker, the BiG Toy Appeal co-ordinator, said “Having donated to the a toy to the Christmas Toy Appeal you will have been unaware of the name of the child, their age or gender, nor will you know why they are among the most unfortunate children in our area.

“But, you are able to imagine your donated toy being unwrapped with that innocent anticipation and resulting surprise and broad smile.”

NSPCC Warrington, Lymm based Children’s Adventure Farm Trust and JUMP were the charities in Warrington to benefit from the appeal.

Nicola Priest, Warrington Guardian editor, said she was thrilled with the response.

She added: “It is fantastic that we have collected so many presents.

“To know that you can help a child who would miss out on such a special time of year otherwise is very humbling.

“So thanks to all our readers and to BiG Storage for helping us out.

“We hope to do even better later this year in our next toy appeal.”

Doug Brown, from business RTL one of the appeal’s collection points, added “The toy appeal brings a little something to a lot of people and it’s fantastic to be in a position to help make it such a success.”
