AN Orford-based community group has been celebrating after being made one of Skipton Building Society’s ‘Big 160’.

They secured a slot as a winner in its ‘Grassroots giving’ initative RRRRe-vamp, which helps people with employment and mental health issues, triumphed over nearly 1,000 other applicants across the country to win £500 funding.

David Cutter, Skipton’s group chief executive, said: “The programme was set up to support groups who show commitment to their community, who could illustrate how they plan to evolve in the future and how the funding would be used to help secure the longevity of their great work.”

The cash will be used to fund an arts and crafts support project.
