A CYCLIST was escorted from the motorway by police next to Thelwall Viaduct on Christmas Day and told officers he had taken a wrong turn on the way home.
North West Motorway Police said on Twitter the cyclist was a Canadian tourist, stopped on the sliproad to the northbound carriageway.
Safety advice was given, according to officers.
Following the incident on Wednesday, police tweeted: “Thelwall Viaduct is no substitute for the Rockies.”
