WARRINGTON Wolves players spread some festive cheer during a visit to the children’s and neonatal wards at Warrington Hospital.

Matty Russell, Glen Riley and Brad Dwyer were among those handing out chocolate selection boxes to poorly youngsters and their families.

Fans Lauren Smith, aged 14, from Penketh, who was in hospital with a breathing problem and Marcus Roberts, aged 13, from Chapelford, who had stepped on a sewing needle, said they were delighted to meet the players before they headed to meet some much tinier supporters.

Freddie Harrison, from Penketh, was born weighing 2.5lbs on October 16 three months premature but is now double that size while seven-week-old Eva Jane Hook, from Sankey Bridges, has been kept company by a cuddly Wolfie after being born weighing 2lb 9oz when mum Clare was only 30 weeks pregnant.

Tiny tot Lacey Collins is also hoping to be home in Runcorn with parents Kate Whitby and Jonathan Collins this Christmas after being born five and a half weeks premature.
