WARRINGTON Wolves star Richie Myler and former Blue Peter daredevil Helen Skelton said ‘I do’ at the weekend during a beautiful ceremony in Cumbria.

The pair tied the knot surrounded by family, friends and fellow players at St Michael's church in Kirkby Thore, near Helen’s home town in Penrith.

Villagers said there had been a 'real buzz' about the place ahead of the wedding with around 100 turning out on a wintry day to wish the couple well.

Brenda and Barry Thompson, who run the village Post Office, said: “The wedding has been the talk of the village and we will definitely walk past the church and wish her well.

“She could have had the wedding in some big place but to have it here shows what she’s like – she still has her feet on the ground.”

Warrington Guardian readers have also been passing on their own good luck messages through our Facebook and Twitter page.

Ste Barton said: "All the best to you both", Karen and Chris Lawton said: "Wishing you both all the luck in the world! xx" while Lorna Ellen Carson added: "Good luck and congratulations and may all your troubles be little rugby/netballers lol."

Ahead of the big day, 30-year-old Helen, who has been spotted cheering on her scrum half husband from the stands a number of times over the past two seasons, tweeted: “Feeling very lucky to have such top family and friends. Xxxx”

While the England international thanked well-wishers for their good luck messages.

They were joined on the day by Ryan Atkins and his partner Stevie Wright who called it ‘the wedding of the year’ on Twitter while Lee Briers and his partner Vicky Hall had to send their apologies after the half back had an operation on his neck in the last week.
