Warrington Guardian: Labour man Nick Bent praises town food bank Labour man Nick Bent praises town food bank

LABOUR parliamentary candidate Nick Bent says the town’s food bank has been busier than ever in the run up to Christmas.

Started a year ago, 100 people regularly volunteer to help pick up food, make parcels and talk to those who come looking for help.

At the Labour Party conference in Brighton in September, Mr Bent used his platform speech to thank churches and other volunteers who run the food bank.

Mr Bent said: “It’s tragic that in Tory Britain so many people now rely on food banks but this Christmas I commend the strong spirit of generosity shown by Warrington people who donate food, volunteer at our food bank and help others to get back on their feet.”

"Dear chief secretary, I'm afraid there is no money. Kind regards - and good luck! Liam."

I consider myself to be from the "They're all as bad as each other" political party..But this has really got up my nose.

You ****** it up...joked about it..left us to struggle, volunteer and pick up the pieces...And now you're using our efforts as a beacon against 'Tory' Britain.

You did this Bent, don't forget.

The banks did this, not any one political party. The banks still make us pay for their psychopathic **** for financial greed. Our government is nothing more than a corporate kleptocracy where vast sums of public money are siphoned off into the pockets of a handful of the wealthy elite. The government is merely a tool of this elite. Our prime minister is a puppet. Red, blue or yellow they are all as bad as each other.

Been past the town hall many times over the years and never noticed it was on such a gradient. Amazing what the WG can teach (except photography).

I have no allegiance. I just find it ridiculous that the people with their hands on the tiller said they'd put an end to boom and bust.. and steered us into crash and burn. They seemed completely mesmorized and showed ridiculous complacency of the practices taking place for the 13 years they were in power. Too busy organising soirees at number 10 with Noel Gallagher. So today to see this Goon congratulating the people of Warrington for organising an effective food bank and trying to make political capital from it!!....Food Bank!! in 2013/14!!..Sorry It just...ok..I've calmed down now..sorry

Matters are not helped by all essential outgoings such as energy & fuel prices while incomes are being squeezed ,especially for people on benefits by the incompetence of staff that work in some of the benefit offices. My step son has had his benefit stopped for not completing a form & returning it to the powers that be.....incidentally he hasn't received this form in the first place !

The jobcentre will use any excuse to throw you off the dole, It gets the numbers down and puts a smile on IDS,s big fat face. They will send you for job,s that you cant get to due to lack of transport or have no qualifications for then accuse you of not trying hard enough, They send people for jobs as fork lift truck drivers with no FLT licence, Not that you can get a warehouse job these day,s due to the language barrier or not willing to sign a zero hours contract.

That's the same IDS who refused to meet with the head of the organisation that is the biggest provider of food banks in the country claiming that he was politically motivated.
