THIS morning safety crews have removed a car from the smashed wall of a Chapelford show home following a crash on Thursday.

The red Peugeot 307 coupe has now been extracted from the shattered exterior of the house on Moran Drive.

A crane was used to support the building, believed to be on sale for £440,000, during the operation, as it was not longer safe following the collision.

The car had been trapped since the incident at 15.57pm yesterday.

A woman was cut from the vehicle by fire crews and taken to hospital for precautionary checks last night, police say.

It is not yet clear what caused the crash.

The house was empty when it was hit.  It is owned by David Wilson Homes.

Traffic delays are still being caused in the area. The roundabout next to Sainsburys is now open again.

A spokesman for David Wilson Homes said: “Following the incident that occurred at Chapelford Village, we have worked closely with the fire brigade and structural engineers to ensure that the affected showhome and surrounding area are safe and secure.

"The development will remain open for business over the Christmas period.”
