Warrington Guardian: Christmas charity ride brings joy to newborns Christmas charity ride brings joy to newborns

A GROUP of 200 bikers spread a little bit of Christmas joy on Saturday when they dished out hundreds of presents to newborns at the Special Care Baby Unit at Warrington Hospital.

Members of the Taliesin Brotherhood bike club, who organised the event, hopped onto their bikes to raise as much money as possible for the hospital department when they took a tour of Warrington on their bikes and scooters.

Each biker also generously donated a present with the sack full of gifts presented to the hospital at the end of the charity bike ride along with a £300 donation.

Biker Rick Petch said: “This is the first time we have ever organised everything and we hope this won’t be the last.

“We want to be able to turn it into an annual event.”

Other biker groups involved in the charity ride inlcuded the Widnes and Warrington Scooter Club and Phase Three Scooter Club.

I was proud to be part of this ride, Great to see people coming together for such a fantastic reason. Well organized, easy route and most of all such a feel good factor... If it's happening again next year count me in.

Excellent day and the ride out was huge! It's a great shame this pic was taken so early, it doesn't show the sheer volume of people that turned up to donate and take part in the ride, you would have to been 150ft up the road to fit everyone in! The convoy led by a police bike was enormous as it stretched up the roads we travelled down through Warrington for the 1/2 hour journey. See these Youtube clips to get an idea of the scale.

Hopefully we brought a lot of smiles to the kids in Warrington Hospital and the people of Warrington.
