Warrington Guardian: Howley dog owner fined £50 Howley dog owner fined £50

A HOWLEY dog owner was handed a £50 fine after being caught letting his dog foul the footpath only yards away from his home.

With a canine population estimated at 8 million, it costs the UK £22m a year to clean up to dog mess.

The council’s executive board member for environment and public protection, Clr David Keane, said: “Failing to clean up after a dog is not only unpleasant and a nuisance to your neighbours but dangerous as well, as dog faeces can spread infections.”

To report dog fouling call 443322.

Very pleased that he had been made an example of, more power to the council for fining him.
When will people realize that being a dog owner includes the picking up of their mess as well as all the lovely bits of having one in your life.

That was your own choice, have you not got a dining place/table/room etc. The Guardian reports many such disgusting photos and worse, now take account of it next time you repeat the reading of such news items while eating!,

Yet another way for the Council to reduce the Council budget deficit. I would like to see a breakdown of the actual costs for explicitly clearing up dog excrement, as I don't believe Cllr. David Keane could actually provide the exact figure for his Constituency or indeed for the rest of the Warrington Borough Council Domain.

I doubt that you can easily get to know hi/her name because of the current data protection legislation.

Perhaps you should, "First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you will see clearly enough to remove the speck from your neighbor's eye".

Bring back dog licences for all dog owners, and introduce compulsory Dog/Owner training, I say! It may give the CSO's something to do instead of them imitating beat bobbies.

I agree with you MAD 4 IT. I believe that most domestic cats normally use litter tray in their home and usually cover up their feces with loose soil where it is able then to decompose and add nutrients to the all ready unhygienic soil. Cats are therefore natural recyclers, also in my opinion they are often cleaner than some people.

I own 2 dogs and live in Orford, it disgusts me when I'm walking around find other dog poop on the floor, I always pick my dogs mess up (unless its like water and physically impossible). Its not hard to carry some small poop bags and pick it up. However I do think most areas would benefit from having more public bins, for example down poplars road. Just generally I think there should be me litter bins to help.

I've never needed to as they have never trod in any. Therefore they must have been very observant and intelligent children. If you supervised them properly as little ones they should be aware of any potential hazardous risks, in my experience and opinion.
