4:00pm Friday 20th December 2013 in News
POLICE rammed the door of a Grappenhall house to intervene in a domestic dispute, a court heard.
Lee Brookhouse, aged 33, screamed and shouted at officers when they arrived at his Knutsford Road home on November 15.
They had been called by paramedics who reported an injured female at the address, Halton Magistrates Court heard on Thursday.
Alison Warburton, prosecuting, said officers could see a smashed window and hear shouting coming from inside.
Brookhouse was asked to open the door, refused and swore.
Police called for an enforcer, a type of battering ram, to enter the house.
A woman appeared at the bathroom window and swore at them.
Brookhouse, who is on benefits, continued to be abusive and was arrested, the court heard.
During his police interview he said he was angry due to an argument with his girlfriend.
He pleaded guilty to using threatening words or behaviour to cause harassment, alarm or distress.
Defending himself during proceedings on Thursday, he said: “I was drunk and stupid.
“I was agitated at the time, and I’m sorry.”
Magistrates sentenced him to an 18 month conditional discharge.
He will also pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
