THE Christmas spirit was in the air in Lymm on Saturday as the village celebrated the annual Dickensian Day.

The event saw the village packed as visitors enjoyed the good weather.

Children from all Lymm’s primary school, Oughtrington, Cherry Tree, Ravenbank and Statham, along with those from Little Bollington joined the parade in a variety of costumes.

And they were alongside Mayor Clr Peter Carey, Lymm Parish Council chairman Clr Ian Marks, dancers from the Lymm Adivas group, Warrington Brass and Santa.

Also taking part were the Thelwall Morris Men.

They were performing the Lymm dance which the the group brought back to life after it died out in 1923 - it was the first time they had taken part in Dickensian.

Both before and after the lunchtime parade, which made its way from Lymm Hotel through the centre of the village, there were a variety of stalls and entertainment on offer.

These included pupils from Statham Primary School selling Christmas pudding to raise money for school funds.
