THE youngest parish councillor in the borough is among the names announced by Labour for next year’s local election.

The Warrington South Labour Group has finalised its list of those standing in the elections, which will take place on May 22.

But Warrington North’s line up remains incomplete follow the selection meeting on November 30.

Following the report into the party published in October, all candidates were selected in front of regional boss Eric Wilson in a one day selection meeting.

But spots remain in Orford and Poulton where women only shortlists were confirmed - but no women candidates put themselves forward.

They are replacing Clr Kelly Simcock, who is standing down in Orford, and Clr Lottie Ladbury.

Nick Bent, the Warrington South Labour parliamentary candidate welcomed the team lined up for the vote next year.

He said: “With David Cameron’s Tories still prioritising tax cuts for millionaires and ignoring the cost of living crisis that affects many families, I hope even more people will back our strong local Labour team.

“Only Labour under Ed Miliband is offering credible and practical support to boost job creation, wages, childcare support and new homes.”

The new candidates are Les Morgan, who is a founder member of St Werburgh’s Community Centre, who will be standing in Latchford West.

Former borough councillor Karen Mundry will be fighting for a place back at the Town Hall in the Whittle Hall ward.

The youngest parish councillor - 19-year-old Tom Jennings, will stand in Grappenhall and Thelwall. The youth worker was previously a Member of Youth Parliament for Warrington South.

Penketh Parish councillor Andy Heaver will be contesting for the seat in Great Sankey North. He is a passionate advocate for disabled people’s rights and the NHS.

Lymm Labour Party chairman Sean Chapman will be standing in the ward and is a former government officer in St Helens where he supported young homeless people.

And completing the new line up is 31-year-old Andy Davidson who volunteers and is standing in Appleton.
