A SEARCH has been launched to find an actor who can master the voice of Jedi master Obi Wan Kenobi.

The Bridgewater Players theatre group are in desperate need of a talented thespian, who can mimic the voice of the famous character played by Sir Alec Guinness in the original Star Wars trilogy.

The successful applicant will star in the group’s comedy production of Help! I’m a Celebrity Pantomime Dame Get Me Out of Here.

Chairman Ian Hornby, who will play Widow Twankey in the show, said: “A couple of members have come close to mimicking the voice but not close enough. We need it to be spot on.”

The pantomime will tell the tale of a group of evil characters who are banished to the jungle to battle it out in an I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here style competition.

Playwright Ian, who is the mastermind behind the script, said: “It’s just a bit of fun and poking fun at people who watch those types of programmes.”

For anyone who believes they are up to the challenge of channelling Obi Wan Kenobi, then you have the choice to either perform live or record your lines prior to curtain call.

The group are also in need of two more actors to step up to the role of palace guards turned accountants, Grant and Cheque.

Ian added: “It will be a lot of fun and it’s a great way to meet new people and get involved with the community. We have done a lot of fundraising over the years.”

Rehearsals are already underway at Lymm Parish Hall on a Tuesday and at Thelwall Parish Hall on a Thursday, from 8pm to 10pm.

The show will mark the theatre group’s 165th performance, after the Bridgewater Players were established 60 years ago.

The performances will take place from February 6 to February 8 at the Thelwall Parish Hall.
