A NEW strategy dealing with takeaway food planning applications has been put forward by Warrington Borough Council.
The new draft scheme includes guidance on how to halt the build up of takeaways in one area and place limits on new takeaways opening close to schools.
Clr David Keane (LAB - Penketh and Cuerdley) said: “Some areas in the town are becoming over filled with takeaways to the detriment of other retail offerings.”
Clr Linda Dirir (LAB - Penketh and Cuerdley) added: “We have had a problem of takeaways in Penketh in close proximity to high schools. You have at lunch time this exodus of pupils queuing up at takeaways for lunch.”
The plan will now under go a consultation.
