FIREFIGHTERS are preparing to go on strike this week after announcing a further two periods of industrial action over a pensions dispute.
Members of the Fire Brigade’s Union will stage a four hour walkout on Friday from 6pm to 10pm with a second strike to take place on Saturday from 6pm to 10pm.
A spokesman for the fire service has urged the public to be extra careful during these times and to not to do anything else that could increase the risk of a fire breaking out.
The spokesman added: “We do have plans and procedures in place that will enable us to continue to protect the communities of Cheshire during strike periods.
“However, as we do have fewer fire engines available we would once again encourage everyone to take extra care during the strike.”
