WARRINGTON is just above the national average for dementia diagnosis rates.
Figures from the Department of Health show that the borough has a 51.6 per cent rate of diagnosis, above the national average of 48 per cent.
The Alzheimer’s Society is calling on health and social care bodies across England to set dementia as a local priority and for best practice to be shared.
Improving diagnosis rates and ensuring people have access to immediate and ongoing support is a key priority for Alzheimer’s Society. Without a diagnosis, people with dementia are unable to access valuable support, information and potential treatments.
Hazel Bayley, regional operations manager for the north west, said: “A diagnosis opens the door to invaluable support that can help people with dementia to live a good quality of life and plan for the future.
