THE Warrington Advanced Motorists group won two awards at the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) National Conference.
The group won £1,000 to be used for road safety by scooping the National IAM Group Achievement Award for 2013.
And motorcycle member Gordon Blackshaw, from Appleton, won the prestigious IAM Lord Strathcarron award for his ‘unstinting hard work and dedication’ over many years.
As part of the award, Gordon was invited to attend the IAM annual lunch in the Royal Automobile Club in London’s Pall Mall and met and talked to the IAM’s patron, Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent as well as the IAM’s chairman Alistair Cheyne.
Gordon said the Duke had been very interested to find out what Gordon had done to achieve his award and this was part of the memory that would last a lifetime.
