Vandals trash new tuck shop in Bruche
7:20am Friday 25th October 2013 in News
MEMBERS of junior sports club Bruche Athletic have said they are devastated after vandals trashed their tuck shop, which had only been open for six weeks.
Emma Jones, who works as social secretary, said she cried her eyes out after seeing the damage caused to the former ranger’s hut on Woolston Park following the break-in on Sunday night around 8pm.
She added: “It’s so disappointing after everything we have done.
“It’s all from unpaid volunteers and the number of man hours is sky high.
“The kids have really enjoyed coming for free hot dogs after a game and it’s become a proper community area.”
Vandals ruined the shop’s stock of sweets after pushing a water urn over them.
The windows were also damaged and a socket ripped from a wall.
Emma said she had considered throwing the towel in after the incident but wants to re-stock again for the kids.
She added: “Hopefully by the end of the week we can rally round and see what we can get.”
Rather than trick or treating this Halloween we are calling on readers to bring their treats to us ahead of Halloween to help get the junior club’s tuck shop re-stocked.
Please leave any donations at our office reception on Bridge Street.
