Check for breast cancer at Spire
4:00pm Thursday 24th October 2013 in News
‘LOOK for any unusual changes and get them checked by your GP’ is the message from a consultant breast surgeon ahead of ‘Wear it pink’ day tomorrow, Friday.
As part of breast cancer awareness month, Mr Ansar Farooq from Spire Cheshire Hospital says not to panic if you find a lump as nine out of ten cases are not cancerous.
He added: “Any woman could be affected by breast disease, no matter what their age.
“They should follow the five-point breast awareness code which includes knowing what is normal for you, checking the look and feel of your breasts, knowing what changes to look for, reporting any changes without delay and attending routine breast screenings if you are over 50.”
