THE Cheshire branch of Crimestoppers is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
And to mark the event, organisers say almost 100,000 pieces of information were passed on to the police by the crime-fighting charity this year.
Information passed to police between April 2012 and March 2013, led to 14,374 crimes being detected and 7,084 people being arrested and charged with crimes in Cheshire.
Terry Savage, chairman of Cheshire Crimestoppers said: “This is a very important year for Crimestoppers as we are celebrating 25 years since Lord Ashcroft set up the charity.
“In those 25 years we have seen thousands of cases being solved across the country thanks to anonymous calls, emails and texts received by Crimestoppers.”
