6:00am Wednesday 23rd October 2013 in News
SEVEN defibrillators will be bought with money raised in memory of Alan ‘Bundy’ Clare.
Amateur rugby league club Bank Quay Bulls lead the fundraising, with the final figure banked at £22,732.
Chairman John Barry says he is currently attempting to buy the defibrillators with a budget of around £7,000.
One will be given to each of the seven amateur rugby league clubs in the town in memory of Mr Clare.
Mr Barry said he has spoken to the 34-year-old’s family who say around £11,000 of the money was spent on repatriation and funeral costs.
It is yet to be decided what will happen to the remaining funds after the medical equipment has been bought.
Donations to charity are likely.
Mr Clare died after falling from a balcony in Spain last month.
