MP slams Government over lack of cash for Warrington Hospital
10:00am Thursday 17th October 2013 in News
WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones has slammed the Government and claimed they cannot justify not allocating money to Warrington Hospital to cope with winter pressures in A&E.
After tabling parliamentary questions asking why the Lovely Lane hospital had not received extra funding and how the government calculated which hospitals would receive the funding, Mrs Jones said that answers were ‘totally inadequate’.
She added: “The suspicion is that they simply went to areas favoured by the Conservative Party.
“Warrington’s A&E is doing very well, but we know it will face severe pressures in the winter because of the number of elderly people in the area.
“The hard-working staff at our hospital, and the people of Warrington, deserve better.”
