A WELL-KNOWN former Warrington businessman has been jailed for three years following a near £200,000 fraud.
Anthony Ansell, aged 59, had denied 34 charges of fraud at Carlisle Crown Court but a jury found him guilty of 15 of them last week.
On Monday, the former Great Sankey man, was jailed for three years and banned from being a company director for five years.
The court was told Ansell, now living in Hyde, Cheshire, wrote cheques he was not able to sign between June 2008 and November 2010 when working at a business park in Cumbria.
He was caught when his business associates found he had forged their signatures.
The court heard he lived in a big house, kept horses and drove convertible cars including a Porsche 911 and a BMW Z3, and regularly hosted lavish parties.
Ansell has also been found guilty of money laundering charges in the 1980s.
