Bus strike set to continue after union turns down offer from Network Warrington
12:31pm Monday 14th October 2013 in News
BUSES will not operate once again tomorrow after union members turned down an offer from Network Warrington in a dispute over pay.
On Thursday the bus company chairman Maureen Banner and executive directors met with Unite representatives and put forward what Network Warrington believed to be a reasonable offer in the face of continuing decline in travel numbers and difficult trading conditions.
Union representatives called a branch meeting yesterday and decided to decline the offer meaning the remaining strike days of tomorrow, Tuesday, a week on Wednesday and Thursday, October 31 are still planned to take place.
It is understood staff were offered a rise of £100 a year plus the chance to get time back for the strike days which have already taken place.
A Network Warrington spokesman said: "The board and management of Network Warrington are extremely disappointed with this decision. The company sincerely apologies to customers for the inconvenience caused by the strike."
The Network Warrington website will be updated regularly to notify customers of any services running on the remaining strike days and the company asks customers to visit www.networkwarrington.co.uk before travelling.
