10:41am Monday 14th October 2013 in News
ENCOURAGING people to report incidents and driving home the message it will not be tolerated is the aim of National Hate Crime Awareness Week.
Cheshire Police is supporting the initiative this week which includes criminal offences motivated by race, religion, sexual orientation or disability.
Cheshire Constabulary′s assistant chief constable Ruth Purdie said: "Across Cheshire, we′ve seen an increase in people reporting hate crime and we want this figure to rise as victims become more confident in reporting crimes to the police."
For anyone who does not feel comfortable contacting the police, hate crimes can also be reported at a number of community reporting centres in the town.
