New home can be built in Penketh

A LANDOWNER in Penketh has been granted permission to develop despite fierce opposition from neighbours.
The application to build a dwelling in the garden of an existing bungalow on Heath Road was approved by Warrington Borough Council.
Residents had objected as the site was previously an orchard that homes on Coronation Drive looked onto.
A Town Hall meeting last Wednesday heard trees were ‘completely devastated’ when removed during the summer.
Clr Linda Dirir (Penketh LAB) spoke against the proposal.
She said: “The trees were destroyed, causing considerable distress.
“It has been a bit of a nightmare over the summer months.”
Mr Taylor, who owns the land, said the trees were diseased and needed to be removed, a claim supported by council officers.
Neighbours also expressed concern the building would be bigger than existing properties.
Mr Taylor said the new two storey building would be a significant distance away from other homes, and was for his family.
The application was approved subject to conditions on a vote of three to one by the development management committee.
