WARRINGTON South MP David Mowat gave a key note speech at the Conservative Party Conference on the benefits of nuclear power.
Speaking at the event, hosted by Nuclear Management Partners and Dods Engagement, Mr Mowat stressed the importance of nuclear power as a part of the UK’s varied power sources, aiding in the reduction of carbon emissions.
Mr Mowat also highlighted the effect on Warrington as a result of the resurgence of nuclear power. Estimates suggest around 3,200 jobs in the town are linked to the nuclear supply train.
Speaking after the event Mr Mowat said: “Any revival of our civil nuclear power programme will bring more highly-skilled jobs to our town.”
