London to Paris bike ride brings in charity cash for Warrington team

The Red Lanterns cycling team raised more than £2,500 for The Royal British Legion after cycling 460km from London to Paris.
Friends Mike Jackson, Chris Yates, Alan Yates, Mark Hardisty, Steve Stirton, Gary Hardisty and Kathryn Yates joined more than 200 cyclists when they biked from Royal Greenwich Park in London to the Arc De Triomphe.
Alan said: “We arrived bang on time at the finish line. The roads were closed and there was a full police escort. There were no aching legs, just a great feeling.”
The gruelling bike ride put the friends through their paces but it was an even bigger challenge for one of the cyclists.
Mike, from Paddington, feared he may never walk again after being knocked off his bike in February 2009.
The 26-year-old was in hospital for a month before having to go into rehabilitation to learn to walk again.
Alan said: “Mike coped extremely well with his first ride since his road traffic accident four years ago.
“Everyone agreed that it was one heck of a comeback and he promises to pedal to Paris again.”
